MONTAGUE COUNTY -- Right in the beautiful North Texas hill country a place called Ancient Ovens offering a taste of Italy in the Lone Star State.

After just two and a half years in business word is spreading fast about the ambiance and food found at Ancient Ovens. Patrons says they love the beautiful scenery, something you don't see everywhere.

Ancient ovens sits about five miles north of Saint Jo. This scenic restaurant sits on the property of Denis and Susan Moody. After Denis retired from the Navy he took a class on building these wood fired ovens, with the goal of building them for people's backyards.

But quickly, the Moodys realized they might have something special in their own backyard. Susan designed a menu, and they started feeding family, friends and people from their church in Muenster. Slowly people started asking the Moodys to host family reunions. Then phone calls poured in with people asking if they could come hang out and enjoy the pizza.

Never dreaming it would grow like it did, Susan and Denis started putting their imagination and creativity into what was growing into a restaurant. Now their indoor dining lodge is complete and Ancient Ovens offers year round service, rain or shine.

Some of the mouth watering pizzas you'll find: tomato and basil, Canadian bacon and pineapple, double meat, sausage and pepperoni. And for vegetarians there is the bell pepper pizza. There are as many as thirty different varieties, all cooked and served in under two minutes.

Similar ovens have been uncovered in Greece Rome, France and Britain.

Employees say there's nothing like it. People come from all over the world and eat at Ancient Ovens. To enjoy a gourmet five course Italian meal out under the lights. Much of Ancient Ovens' success must center on its beautiful atmosphere.
