MIDLAND -- Big 2 recently reported that some burglars have been breaking into rent drop-boxes at Midland apartment complexes and stealing checks.

Police are actively looking for the crooks, but the burglars are still actively stealing the checks.

In fact, the Hawthorne House Apartments tells Big 2 they're filing a police report, after more checks were swiped from their drop box recently.

The best way to keep your checks from ending up in the wrong hands is to give your checks to apartment managers directly.

Also, report any suspicious activity you see to Midland Police.
