Midland Police officers Mollie Pehl and James Rex were cleared by both M.P.D. and the Texas Rangers after review of documents and dashcam video from the case.
The evidence reportedly shows that 34-year-old Christopher Brawley attacked the officers with a 2 x 4 while the officers were responding to a disturbance with a weapon call in the 5100 block of Ric Drive on the night of May 12th.
After the officers were attacked, they opened fire on Brawley. Brawley was rushed to Midland Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Both Pehl and Rex were placed on administrative leave after the incident, which is standard procedure in those situations.
Both officers are back working on the force again.
