The trial against Willie Hurst is set to begin on Tuesday in Odessa. Hurst is charged with capital murder and murder for the brutal killing of Robert Thornhill in June 2008.
An indictment states that Hurst cut Thornhill with a sharp object and shot Thornhill with a crossbow after Derek Elms slit Thornhill's throat. Then, the two men reportedly set Thornhill's body on fire in a Goldsmith oil field.
Elms has already pleaded guilty to murder charges. He's serving a life sentence in state prison.
Heather Mitchell and Kathleen Newberry are also charged with murder for Thornhill's death.
