ODESSA -- An Odessa teen is facing murder charges for a fatal shooting that happened last week.

Trevor Atchison was arrested on Friday.

Odessa Police say Atchison, 18, was riding in a pickup truck with Evan Tyler Fitts and several others around 6:25 pm Thursday. Someone shot Fitts in the back as the truck headed up Dixie near Sherwood Park.

Fitts, 19, and two other people jumped out of the pickup as it swerved off Dixie and through Sherwood Park -- before crashing into a house on East 49th Street. Fitts was rushed to Medical Center Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police found Atchison on Friday, while they were searching a home in the 300 block of East 48th street.

Odessa Police say Atchison stole a woman's purse at gunpoint in an alley in the 300 block of East 48th Street on November 8th. Police had a search warrant connected to that crime on Friday.

Meanwhile an affidavit states that Atchison is on probation and is wearing an ankle monitor. The monitor indicated that Atchison was away from the home between 6:20 PM and 6:29 PM Thursday -- which is the time window where the fatal shooting happened.

After he was detained, Atchison reportedly admitted to setting up the murder. Atchison also allegedly police he was trying to rob Fitts in the pickup when Fitts was shot.

Now, Atchison is charged with capital murder, aggravated robbery, engaging in criminal activity and failure to attend school. He's being held on $750,000 bond.

Odessa Police are still investigating the case. Anyone with any information should call Odessa Crimestoppers at (432) 333-TIPS (8477).
