By: Dylan Brooks
Updated: December 2, 2011
MIDLAND -- December rent was due all across West Texas Thursday -- but apartment complex residents in Midland were thinking twice before dropping their checks and money orders in the dropbox.

Midland Police say thieves have been swiping checks from rent drop-boxes in the Tall City in recent weeks. With all the new checks coming in on December 1st -- the thieves could be ready to strike again.

To protect yourself from rent-check thieves, hand your checks to employees in leasing offices or pay electronically.
