Ismael Hernandez Sanchez was sentenced to 27 months in federal prison on Thursday in Midland. Sanchez, 61, will also have to be on supervised release for 3 years, and he'll have to pay $95,000 restitution.
Sanchez billed the government for $100,000 worth of counseling for Bureau of Prison (BOP) inmates in 2009. Sanchez was doing business for "SR and Associates" at the time of the billing.
Sanchez billed $70 an hour for family counseling, $56 an hour for individual counseling and $40 an hour for group counseling. The counseling was supposedly supervised by Dismas Charities Halfway House in Midland.
As it turns out, Sanchez Never actually counseled the inmates. He also lied to investigators as they looked into the financial discrepancies.
A federal jury convicted Sanchez on August 25th in Midland. Sanchez was indicted on March 28th.
