Energy Report: Local Service Company Expands

Midland - Local service company AggieTech is expanding in a big way. A ribbon cutting was held Thursday at their new offices located off of I-20. Some would say the expansion is a sign of a strong economy. But for AggieTech, it could also be good karma.
Last January, Big 2 told you about an Alabama man who, after losing his job, boarded a Greyhound bus to Midland in hopes of finding employment. He left everything, including his family, behind. During an interview, Mitchell Monk told us, "All I knew was that I had the clothes on my back, an extra suit of clothes and a sleeping bag."
Although Monk had no experience in the oilfield, AggieTech gave him a chance. "We like the underdog. We were underdogs, so we like the opportunity to extend that to someone else," explains Toben Scott, AggieTech president.
Not only did they give Monk a job, they also helped put a roof over his head and food in his stomach while he got back on his feet.
Give and you shall receive.
Now, less than a year later, AggieTech is celebrating a huge milestone. "Aggietech is celebrating it's grand opening of our new office facility and machine shop that we've added to our pre-existing business," says Scott.
As their full-service pumping unit business expands, so is their number of employees. Scott says, "This time last year, we were right at 30 employees, and the year before that we were right at 15 employees." Today, they have 65.
Scott says it's those employees that have helped get them where they are today. "We're very proud of what we've done, but we realize we couldn't have done it without our employees, and we're very thankful for the people we've brought on board to help make this happen."
