Ask anyone from Michigan where they live and they'll point to somewhere on their left hand. That's because the lower peninsula of the state appears to be in the shape of a mitten.

But, tourism officials in Wisconsin believe their state is mitten-shaped too; which led to a heated debate. For the last week, Wisconsin and Michigan have been battling over which state's shape looks more like a mitten.

The states formed a peaceful alliance announcing a paired mitten collection campaign for charity. For the next month, Michigan and Wisconsin welcome centers will serve as drop off sites for mittens and gloves.

The two states are hoping the hype over the great mitten debate will generate support for their benefit drive.
