More Young Adults Covered By Health Insurance

By: Stephanie Castillo
Updated: December 15, 2011
About 2.5 million young adults got health insurance coverage as a result of last year's health care reform.

That's according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Those additional people, ages 19 to 25, have insurance because of a provision that lets young adults stay on their parents' insurance plans through age 26.

The Obama administration says this is a sign that the controversial legislation is succeeding.

A spokesman for Republican House Speaker John Boehner points out Republicans supported that particular provision, even including it in their alternative health care bill.
