Six Traits: Idea development (begins in introduction and continues through conclusion), Organization (pre-planning is essential), Word Choice (vibrant and specific words that convey author's message to specific audiences), Voice (closely connected to word choice as author's voice is reflected through word choice, tone, "personality"), Sentence Fluency (sentences are varied in length and structure), Conventions (correct punctuation, capitalization, agreement).
