Busy Day For Holiday Travel Day

Heading out today?  Join the crowd.

Today is expected to be one of, if not the, busiest travel day of the holiday season. Tomorrow isn't expected to be much better and Monday will see millions returning from their Christmas destinations.

Triple A says more than nine in ten travelers will be in their cars, due in part to a recent decline in gas prices and a spike in air fares.

That certainly doesn't mean airports will be empty. The airline industry group Airlines for America says flights are going to be full, despite a projected one-percent drop in the number of flyers this year.

With stormy weather wreaking havoc in several sections of the U.S., travelers are advised to check with their airline before heading to the airport.

And as always, leave plenty of extra time for traffic jams and longer-than-normal lines.
