NY "Times" Mistakenly E-Mails Cancellations

NEW YORK, NY -- One of the nation's biggest newspapers is in damage control mode after e-mailing cancellation notices to millions of its subscribers.

"The New York Times" says it mistakenly notified more than eight-million people that home delivery of the paper had been canceled.

Earlier, Times officials had dismissed the e-mail as spam. The rival "New York Post" ran a story on the flap using the headline, "New York Post caught in lie over 'spam' subscription cancellation e-mails."
