Iowa Caucus Next Week

By: Big 2 News Staff
Updated: December 30, 2011
With just days to go before the January 3rd Iowa Caucus, former Massachusetts  Governor Mitt Romney is back at the head of the pack of Republican presidential  hopefuls.

The latest Gallup Daily Poll gives Romney 27-percent support, while former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is second with 23-percent.

Texas Congressman Ron Paul is a distant third at eleven-percent.

The numbers contrast sharply with polling in Iowa ahead of that state's caucus next week, which have shown Romney and Paul in a statistical dead heat and well ahead of the other GOP candidates.

Meanwhile, Michele Bachmann's campaign chairman in Iowa has changed affiliation to Ron Paul's campaign.

Kent Sorenson says he switched sides because he believes Paul has a better chance of beating Mitt Romney in the Iowa caucus.

Bachmann insists the defection was about money.
