Texas members of Americans for Prosperity held a protest against the reptile's potential endangered species listing on Tuesday in Midland.
Americans for prosperity fights what they consider government intrusion into business across the country -- and they say the Dunes Sagebrush Lizard Saga is a classic case of such intrusion.
Many fear that if the lizard is listed as an endangered species, it will severely reduce oil production in West Texas -- which would in turn, kill jobs and hamper the region's economy.
Americans for Prosperity wants people to fight the listing, and that's something they believe people are ready to do.
"I love the West Texas Spirit," Americans for Prosperity's Peggy Venable told Big 2. "West Texans are fighters. West Texans aren't going to roll over on this, and I think we have a tremendous opportunity and responsibility to fight."
Americans for Prosperity also believes that the case should be considered by congress, instead a panel like us fish and wildlife.
