FORT WORTH -- Human remains found in a Big Spring field Tuesday do not belong to Hailey Dunn.

According to the Big Spring Police Department, Friday's autopsy of the remains in Tarrant County indicated that those remains are of a male body.

The determination rules out the possibility that those remains would be those of Dunn -- a Colorado City teenager who went missing on December 27, 2010. Dunn was 13 years old at the time of her disappearance, and no sign of her has been found since.

Workers at an industrial site near Wright Avenue and Apron Drive in Big Spring found the human remains Tuesday afternoon. The remains were too mummified to be identified and an F.B.I. Evidence Recovery Team was called in from Dallas to investigate.

The location of the human remains -- near the McMahon-Winkle Airport and the home of the mother of the only suspect in Dunn's disappearance, Shawn Adkins -- led to widespread speculation that the remains could be Dunn's. Friday's autopsy indicates that is not the case.

Big Spring Police have a detective on hand in Fort Worth for the autopsy. They are awaiting the preliminary medical examiner's report before releasing more information.

"There's further testing to be done and it could 2-3 months before we get any more results," Tony Everett of the Big Spring Police Department told Big 2. "Right now we're just in a wait mode."
