"Interesting as can be. I love this stuff." That's what Boehner had to say following his tour of CanElson Rig #8. One of the many rigs in the Permian Basin he says can help America gain energy independence. "This is what America wants. They want us to be self-sufficient and producing our own oil and gas. 80 percent of the American people want this," said Boehner.
That's why he was in West Texas...to learn more about a region he says would play an even bigger part in American-made energy if he got his way. "The Permian Basin produces at least a quarter of America's oil every day. It could produce a lot more. Why not?"
He believes this would help alleviate a number of issues that America faces today including high gas prices. "If we're producing the oil and gas here in the U.S. as opposed to what is happening right now...because of concern about Iran and it's contentious relationship with Israel and the rest of the Middle East... that fear is causing the price of oil to go up, and the fact is if we produce more oil and gas in America, you'll have more stable prices than what you have today," said Boehner.
He also spoke about current oil and gas regulations, tax rates for oil companies, and why he disagrees with President Obama's energy policies. We'll have more on what he had to say regarding all of these issues coming up in this week's Big 2 Energy Report Thursday night at 10pm.
