Dawson County Leaders Hold Off On Reinstating Burn Ban

LAMESA -- Even with the recent hot, dry conditions, Dawson County leaders are holding off on re-instating a burn ban.
The K.B.D.I. (Keetch-Byram Drought Index) is expected to exceed 600 points within the next two weeks in Dawson County -- making a burn ban reinstatement more likely.
However, The Lamesa Press-Reporter reports that Dawson County Commissioners are aiming to keep the burn ban off the table until the traditional homecoming bonfires can by lit at Dawson County High Schools.
The matter will be discussed further at the next Dawson County Commissioner's Court meeting in mid-September.
