Sales Tax Extended In Carlsbad, NM

CARLSBAD, NM -- A sales tax increase has been extended in Carlsbad, NM.
According to The Carlsbad Current-Argus, a measure to extend a 1/8-cent sales tax in Carlsbad indefinitely passed by a 2,095-1,434 vote on September 18th.
Only 2,529 of Carlsbad's 14,613 eligible voters (24.1 percent) took part in the special election.
Proceeds from the tax will be used to finish building the Bob Forrest Sports Complex in Carlsbad. Other proceeds will fund infrastructure improvements in the area.
