2 More Cases Of West Nile Virus Confirmed In Presidio County

MARFA -- More cases of West Nile Virus have been reported in Presidio County.

    The Big Bend Sentinel reports that 2 new cases of West Nile Virus have been confirmed near Marfa.

    A third case of West Nile Virus was reported in Presidio County last week.

    The patients being treated for West Nile Virus in Presidio County include a girl under the age of 10, a man in his 40s and a woman in her 60s.

    Presidio County health officials believe that the 3  people infected with the virus contracted it in early August, but symptoms of the virus only started to show in early September.

    More than 25 cases of West Nile Virus have been reported in Andrews, Dawson, Ector, Glasscock, Howard, Martin, Midland, Presidio and Reeves counties in the past 6 weeks.

    Three West Texans -- an Andrews County resident, an Ector County resident, and a Midland County resident -- have died from the virus.
