ODESSA -- Many Odessans experienced a power outage Thursday.

The power went out along East University Boulevard between North Grandview Avenue and East Loop 338 Thursday.

ONCOR officials reported that almost 1,000 customers -- including many at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin --  were affected by the outage.

ONCOR officials say that equipment failure caused the power outage.
