PRESIDIO -- A science project designed by 3 Presidio High School graduates will soon be on its way to the International Space Station.

The Big Bend Sentinel reports that the experiment "The Effect of Microgravity on the Growth of pH of Lactobacillus acidophilus" has been chosen to be part of a science package that will be sent to the International Space Station by the Space X Dragon rocket.

The rocket is expected to launch from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, FL around 9:30 PM on October 7th.

A back up launch opportunity is available on Monday, October 8.

The experiment was created by Illiana Fernandez, Alvaro Romero and Rafael Sanchez -- all members of Presidio High School's Class of 2012.

Fernandez, Romero and Sanchez also presented the project to a panel of scientific authorities at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. in July.
