Kyle Wade Guthrie was sentenced to 6 years in a Texas prison after he pleaded guilty to online solicitation of a minor charges Friday.
Guthrie -- a former KBST Radio weathercaster -- sent a 16-year-old girl sexually explicit messages.
Guthrie, 28, was arrested on February 7th, after Howard County Sheriff's deputies and Department of Homeland Security officials seized several electronics from his home.
Guthrie was indicted on June 4th.
Guthrie reportedly produced online videos of the search for missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn in early 2011.
The videos reportedly helped Guthrie get his job with KBST Radio.
Howard County Sheriff Stan Parker says that Guthrie tried to hang himself at the Howard County Detention Center around 5 PM Friday.
However, Big Spring E.M.S. crews acted quickly to stop the suicide attempt.
Guthrie was treated at Scenic Mountain Medical Center after the failed hanging, and he returned to the Howard County Detention Center Friday evening.
