ODESSA -- A Waco teen accused of shooting another teen in the back in an Odessa parking lot reportedly told police the incident was an accident.

Willie Earl Solomon II is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Odessa Police say Solomon, 18, shot Curtis Johnson in the back at the M.C.M. Elegante parking lot on Tuesday night.

Johnson, 18, underwent surgery at Medical Center Hospital after the shooting.

As of Sunday evening, Johnson was upgraded to "fair condition" at MCH.

Meanwhile, police say they found Solomon after the shooting, who used the fake name "Wilford Sanders" to identify himself.

Solomon -- who's from Waco but had been living in Odessa before the shooting -- also reportedly gave police a fake birth date.

Solomon reportedly told officers that he got in an argument with Johnson in the parking lot and threatened to shoot him.

However, Solomon allegedly maintained that he didn't intend to fire the gun.

Instead, Solomon reportedly said went off accidentally while he was holding it.

Meanwhile, police say the weapon used in the shooting was reported as stolen out of Wichita Falls.

The weapon has since been recovered.

Solomon remained behind bars in the Ector County Law Enforcement Center without bond Friday night.
