ODESSA -- An Ector County I.S.D school bus is hit as part of a chain-reaction crash while carrying dozens of students.

The crash happened at East Loop 338 and East University Boulevard around 4 PM Thursday.

Odessa Police say that a Toyota Tundra was heading north on Loop 338 when it lost control and smashed into a 1999 Chevy Suburban.

The Tundra then hit the bus -- which was stopped -- head-on.

That bus was carrying 44 students home from L.B.J. Elementary School in Odessa.

None of the students -- or the bus driver --  were hurt.

Still, E.C.I.S.D. officials had to make sure the kids could then get home.

"What we do we contact the campus, the Transporation Department is called," E.C.I.S.D.'s Communications Director Mike Adkins told Big 2. "In this case, Miss Holmes -- the principal at L.B.J. Elementary -- came out to the bus and found out which kids were on the bus."

District officials then contacted parents and told them they could either come pick their kids up from the scene or wait until another bus came to finish off the regular route.

The driver and passenger in the Suburban were taken to Medical Center Hospital with unknown injuries.

Odessa Police say the driver of the Suburban was an 87-year-old woman.
