New Fire Chief Named In Carlsbad, NM

CARLSBAD, NM -- Carlsbad, NM officials have named a new fire chief.

    The Carlsbad City Council officially named Richard Lopez as the city's new fire chief Tuesday.

    Lopez has been serving as Carlsbad's Assistant Fire Chief since 2009.

    Current Carlsbad Fire Chief Mike Reynolds is retiring at the end of 2012.

    Reynolds has been the Carlsbad Fire Chief since 2000.

    Lopez will start as Carlsbad's Fire Chief on January 1, 2013.
