Additional Land Purchased For Midland County Horseshoe Arena

Updated: October 10, 2012
MIDLAND -- The Midland County Horseshoe Arena will soon have some more space.

Midland County commissioners agreed to purchase a 5.2 acre tract of triangular-shaped land from the Abell Hangar Foundation for $264,573 on October 8th.

The land is located east of the Midland County Horseshoe Arena, but it's only accessible by crossing arena property.

The land was originally cut off from arena property by Cotton Flat Road, but Garfield Street has since been extended at a diagonal angle near the arena in order to connect the arena directly to central Midland.

The newly purchased land will be used as parking space for events at the Midland County Horseshoe Arena.

Midland County Judge Mike Bradford tells Big 2 that a hotel could eventually be built on the land, but no agreements have been made for that venture at this point.
