For the past 9 years, Christmas For Our Troops has been assembling care packages for men and women from the Permian Basin who are serving overseas.
This year, Christmas For Our Troops plans to put together 2,500 packages for troops in Afghanistan.
However, Christmas For Our Troops needs people to let them know if they have friends of neighbors serving overseas.
"We need them to send us the name of the loved one, friends and neighbors that are serving in Afghanistan -- along with their A.P.O.," Scott Davis of Christmas For Our Troops told Big 2. "If you know someone who is a 1st Sgt. or 2nd Lt. and they have a Platoon, get us the number of men and women in that platoon. We'll make sure everyone in that unit gets a box. You don't want someone to go through Christmas without some Christmas cheer."
Each package will have snacks, a pocketknife, knit cap, socks, gun oil and other necessities, as well as Christmas cards from West Texas children.
Anyone who knows a member of the military who's serving overseas -- and wants to get them a care package -- should call Christmas For Our Troops at (432) 620-8820.
