71st Permian Basin International Oil Show is a Huge Success

PBIOS, Odessa -- With over 700 vendors, there's been a lot of ground to cover these past three days, but after speaking with oil show organizers, vendors, and visitors, it looks like the show was a big success.
"I think this is probably the biggest and best show we've ever had as far as the number of exhibitors and the quality of the show and the number of attendees," said Don Gregory, PBIOS president.
Gregory predicts attendance to be over 40,000 when it's all said and done. After speaking with a few of those visitors, it sounds like they enjoyed it. "It was great show. The best show," said one spectator.
That message was echoed by vendors. "It's been a very good show," said Jerry Knous, TRC Fiberflex. "We really have enjoyed it. We've seen a lot of good customers. It's been good. It's been a success."
For one company, the show was a chance to showcase more than just their products. M3P also used it as an opportunity to raise funds for breast cancer awareness. "We've collected almost $3,000 for Pink the Basin that stays right here in this community for breast cancer awareness," said Bob Highley, M3P.
While many companies traveled across the country to attend the show, one company traveled from across the globe.
Jonathan Cheng traveled all the way from Beijing, China not only to promote his own business, Warner & Hughes Corp., but he said, "to see everybody in the oil and gas business. To find out what the new things are. New technology this show brings to everybody."
Cheng says he'll definitely make the trip again in 2014, and by the sounds of it, he's far from the only one.
"We've had people asking, can I get on the waiting list for the next one? How do I get into the show," added Gregory. "So, yeah, we've had a lot of interest."
Aside from being a very successful show, all the people it brought in from out of town should definitely fare well for the local economy. Keep it locked on to Big 2 News for all the latest updates.
