MIDLAND -- A pro-life icon and West Texas native was honored in Midland Friday.

A rosary and memorial was held in Nellie Gray's name Friday at St. Ann's Church in Midland.

The rosary was then followed by a march to the Midland Planned Parenthood office.

Gray was a Big Spring native who founded the nationwide March For Life Movement in 1973.

Gray has been called the "Joan of Arc of the Gospel of Life."

The San Angelo Diocese is officially renaming it's pro-life committee after Gray.

Gray passed away in her Washington, D.C. home in August at the age of 86.
