ODESSA -- The Permian Panthers have failed to live up to preseason expectations. But on Friday night, that all changed as every aspect of the team seemed to find its rhythm in a 48-38 win over San Angelo Central.

On offense, Jorrion Wilson put on his best performance of the year. The senior  rushed for 255 yards and five touchdowns. And while Wilson got things done on the ground, Jack Wilkins put on a show in the air passing for 194 yards and a score.

But It was the defense, however, that saved the game for the Mojo. They forced four turnovers, including two huge fourth down stops to keep the Bobcats from completing a big comeback.

It was an overall performance that keeps the panthers alive in the playoff hunt and that something Head Coach Gary Gaines can't help but be pleased with.

"There was a lot of offense in the game. Over 900 yards of total offense between the two teams. We outscored them. I thought our defense made some really key stops during the course of that game that kind of made a big difference. Jorrion obviously had a good game. I thought our offensive line did really well. I thought our receivers and our quarterbacks, I thought it was just a well executed game offensively."
