MIDLAND -- The Permian Basin Petroleum Association held it's 50th annual meeting at the Petroleum Club in downtown Midland Thursday.

The annual meeting featured a variety of panel meetings.

The keynote at the event was John Zogby -- founder of the Zogby Political Poll.

Zobgy spoke about key demographics and the razor-thin margin in this election.

P.B.P.A. leaders say discussions about elections are crucial, since what happens in Washington D.C. has a large impact on West Texas.

"Over the past two years we have become more federally focused, instead of state focused," P.B.B.A. Douglass Robison told Big 2. "We're worried about what D.C. may do that may impact all the economic activity we see here in [West Texas]. We are trying to protect jobs, basically that's what we're trying to do."

The P.B.P.A. is the largest independent oil and gas association in the United States.
