The highly anticipated October jobs report brought mixed news today.

Newly released numbers from the Labor Department show the unemployment rate ticked up to 7.9 % last month.

That's up from 7.8 % in September.

But, the report also shows the economy added 171,000 jobs last month.

Economists surveyed by C-N-N Money only expected to see 125,000 jobs added.

Roughly 12.3 million people remain unemployed.

More than 40 percent of those people have been out of work for more than six months.
