Odessa Voters React After Casting Their Ballot

PERMIAN BASIN-- James Brantley is an Odessa resident with strong opinions on Tuesday's election.

"We can't have another president that is going to be a liberal," stated Brantley. "He cannot spend the money that he has. We've got to get that back, we've got to get that back in check."

Brantley says he showed up at the polls on Tuesday to do his part, and help get the people he's supporting elected.

Including, those running in the various local races throughout Odessa.

"The County Attorney was a very important one to me," said Brantley. "ECISD Bond I think needs to be looked at again. I think they need to elaborate more on what the money is going to be spent for."

But not everyone shares Brantley's views.

"I didn't want Romney to win so I voted for Obama," said Odessa voter Marisela Talvarez.

Several other voters we talked to say they're completely on board with the ECISD Bond.

"The teachers and other faculties can have the experience of having more schools and seeing how it would affect the kids," said Odessa voter Natasha Sanchez.

There are a lot of local races on the Ector County ballot, as well as a bond, and some races in Midland.

An interesting thing though, we talked with several voters who all said they didn't even know about half of the issues that they were voting for.

Many of them told us that this election made them want to brush up on their politics, and their knowledge, to make sure they're better prepared for the next election.
