ODESSA -- A day after the 2012 November elections, the race for Odessa City Council, Place 1 is separated by less than half a dozen votes.

A total of four votes separate candidates pastor Roger McNeil and Dr. Tara Deaver.

McNeil registered 1,190 votes, while Deaver pulled in 1,186 votes.

It remained unclear Wednesday if a recount would be ordered for the election.

McNeil and Deaver are vying for the seat held by longtime Odessa councilman Bill Cleaver.

Cleaver has been on the Odessa City Council since 1998, but he could not run for re-election due to term limits.
