MIDLAND -- The Texas Comptroller made a stop in Midland on Wednesday.

Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts Susan Combs was the keynote speaker at this month's Midland County Republican Women's luncheon at the Petroleum Club in downtown Midland Wednesday.

Combs -- the chief financial officer for the State of Texas -- talked about last week's elections and the upcoming state legislation session.

"I think we're going to see a good conversation about how we spend money, what do we invest in long term," Combs told Big 2. "We're expected to move about $1.9 billion into the Rainy Day Fund later this month -- which will bring it up to a little over $8 billion."

The Midland County Republican Women also soon install the club's 2013 executive board.
