MIDLAND -- The train hit the second of two parade floats carrying veterans and their famillies.

Police say the float hit had 26 people on it. 12 veterans, their 12 spouses, and two escorts.

More than a dozen of those people needed immediate medical care, and they were all rushed to Midland Memorial Hospital.

Because of that the hospital went Code One, and was unable to take on other patients because of the massive swell in injured people.

Marcy Madrid from Midland Memorial can't remember the last time this happened there, but she said that they do several emergency drills every year to prepare for disasters just like this one.

They also have set up a special area for the friends and family of the wounded so they can get them information as quickly as possible.
