AUSTIN -- Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott has released the following statement after a train ran into parade float in Midland Thursday, killing 4 wounded military service members and injuring 17 other people.

"Texans and Americans unite in mourning for the military veterans who sacrificed for their country, but lost their lives in a tragic accident in Midland. Their legacy will be celebrated for leaving our country a better place, and for their enduring commitment to lift up the values that have kept America exceptional. I urge Texans to open their thoughts and prayers to the families of the four men who lost their lives and to those who were injured in this horrible tragedy."
