Odessa To Ease Water Restrictions On December 1st

ODESSA -- The City of Odessa will soon allow people to water outdoors twice a week once again.

Odessa city officials say twice-a-week outdoor irrigation and landscaping will be allowed once again on December 1st.

The move comes after the Colorado River Municipal Water District (C.R.M.W.D.) decided to lift restrictions on raw water allotments to its member cities.

C.R.M.W.D. will stop limiting the amount of raw water fed to Odessa and other cities on November 30th.

Businesses and homes with even numbered addresses will be able to water on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Businesses and homes with odd numbered addresses will be able to water on Wednesdays and Sundays.

There will be no restrictions on the times or the means in which residences water.

As of December 1st, there will be also no more restrictions regarding vehicle washing and washing down of buildings, sidewalks, walkways, driveways, parking lots, streets and gutters.

However, Odessa officials still encourage water conservation efforts, since drought conditions remain in West Texas.

If additional rainfall doesn't reach West Texas water sources, C.R.M.W.D. could limit raw water deliveries to its member cities again in 2013.
