MIDLAND -- In the wake of Thursday's train tragedy in Midland, many people have donated blood at multiple Tall City locations.

West Texans flooded the Midland H.E.B. at Wadley Avenue and Midkiff Road and the United Blood Services office at Midkiff Road and Loop 250 with blood donations on Saturday.

The Midland H.E.B. was actually holding a previously-scheduled blood drive on Saturday -- but with the train tragedy fresh in West Texans' minds, officials saw plenty of donations.

Another previously-scheduled blood drive in Midland -- which took place at Midland High School on Friday -- also saw high turnout in the wake of the tragedy.

There was enough blood on hand at Midland Memorial Hospital to help the victims of the Midland train tragedy as they went through surgeries on Thursday and Friday.

However, these fresh donations will help replace the blood that was used -- as well as ensure that there is plenty of blood available before the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
