Man Killed In Oilfield Accident In Southeast New Mexico

ARTESIA, NM -- A man dies in an oilfield accident in southeast New Mexico.

    The Carlsbad Current-Argus reports that Dover Magby died hours after he severely injured in an accident at a United Drilling site in southern Chaves County on November 17th.

    Eddy County Sheriff's deputies say that Magby, 49, might have been crushed while he was standing between two pieces of equipment that cycle and fill up with mud.

    Magby was reportedly directing the machinery at the time of the accident.

    Magby was rushed to Artesia General Hospital after the accident, but he died after suffering severe head trauma.

    Magby was reportedly Carlsbad native who worked for Closed Loop Specialties of Carlsbad.

    Investigators continue to try and figure out how and why the incident occurred.
