Federal Investigators To Remain In Midland After Train Tragedy

MIDLAND -- Federal investigators with the National Transportation Safety Board will remain in Midland through the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
Investigators will remain in the Tall City as they continue to try an determine the cause of a devastating November 15th crash along the railroad tracks near West Front Street and South Garfield Street.
Four military veterans were killed -- and 17 other people were injured -- when a Union Pacific freight train plowed into a Show of Support parade float that was crossing the tracks around 4:35 PM on November 15th.
N.T.S.B. investigators spent several hours conducting a sight-distance test at the railroad crossing near West Front Street and South Garfield Street on November 20th.
The agents brought in a freight train and a flatbed truck to re-construct the deadly crash.
The N.T.S.B. will now spend several weeks analyzing the data they compiled during the exercise.
