Honduran Man Hit By Jeep, Killed In Artesia, NM

ARTESIA, NM -- A Honduran national is killed in a crash in Artesia, NM.

    Artesia Police say that a 2007 Jeep Wrangler was heading south on South 1st Street (U.S. 285) in Artesia around 6:50 PM on November 24th when it ran into a 23-year-old Honduran man near Chapz Bar and Grill (in the 1800 block of South 1st Street).

    The Honduran man -- whose name has not been released -- was rushed to Artesia General Hospital, but he died from massive trauma around 8:25 PM on November 24th.

    Police say that the Honduran man was either standing or walking in the outside travel lane of South 1st Street when the Jeep ran into him.

    The Jeep was reportedly traveling 50 miles an hour at the time of the crash.

    Police say the driver of the Jeep -- a 26-year-old Artesia man -- wasn't injured in the crash.

    Two adult passengers in the Jeep also weren't injured.
