MIDLAND -- A hydrochloric acid spill leads to a road closure in Midland.

TXDOT officials tell Big 2 that a Universal truck spilled some hydrochloric acid along the north service road of Interstate 20 near Garden City Highway (TX 158) around 1:15 PM Monday.

TXDOT officials believe that acid was diluted, but they say there was a strong odor in the area after the spill.

HAZMAT crews threw dirt on the spill, in order to cover it up.

The north service road of Interstate 20 was blocked off for close to an hour after the spill.

No injuries have been reported due to the spill.
