CARLSBAD, NM -- A man falls asleep in a car, and wakes up in handcuffs.

Remigio Morales was arrested on November 26th.

Carlsbad (NM) Police say that they found Morales, 23, sleeping in the driver seat of a stopped Dodge passenger car in the 1000 block of South Canal Street around 6:10 AM on November 26th.

Officers reportedly found a partially exposed handgun in Morales' coat pocket.

Officers also say that Morales had another handgun and two drug-related pipes in another pocket, and they add that he was driving on a revoked license.

    Both handguns were reportedly stolen.

However, Morales had previously been convicted of a felony charge, so he wasn't allowed to carry a firearm anyway.

With that information in tow, police arrested Morales on the spot.

Now, Morales is charged with felon in possession of a firearm, 2 counts of receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia.

As of Tuesday evening, Morales was being held in the Eddy County Detention Center.
