David Turner Sworn In As Odessa Mayor

ODESSA -- A new mayor has taken the reins in Odessa.
Mayor David Turner took the oath of office at Tuesday's Odessa City Council meeting.
Turner is taking the place of Larry Melton.
Melton -- Odessa's longest-serving mayor -- served the city as mayor for 11 years.
However, Melton wasn't allowed to run for office in the 2012 elections, due to term limits.
"I'm very excited," Turner told Big 2. "You know, a little overwhelmed by all the information. But, you know, I'll get it all down and we'll start some projects here pretty quick."
Turner plans to continue to work to develop new water sources for Odessa.
Turner also said he's moving forward with a project involving a water test well in Pecos County.
The mayor also wants to fight the trash problem in Odessa -- and he plans to start by forming a mayor's task force to address the issue.
Two other new elected officials were also sworn in to office on Tuesday night.
District 1 Councilman Roger McNeil is replacing Bill Cleaver, while District 2 Councilman Dewey Bryant is taking over for James Goates.
Both McNeil and Goates were term limited out of office.
Meanwhile, Goates was appointed to the Colorado River Municipal Water District board on Tuesday evening.
