ECTOR COUNTY -- A teenager leads law enforcement on a pursuit in a stolen Crane Fire Department truck.

The bizarre incident happened around 8 PM Wednesday.

Witnesses tell Big 2 that a 14-year-old got behind the wheel of the Crane Fire Department's dump truck and took off on a joyride along U.S. 385.

Crane County Sheriff's deputies tell Big 2 that they were investigating a missing child call -- possibly of the teenager who was driving the truck -- when they got word of the stolen truck.

Crane and Ector County Sheriff's deputies, along with Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, chased the dump truck at high rates of speed before the chase ended in southern Ector County at around 9:20 PM Wednesday.

The 14-year-old driver was reportedly taken into custody, but it's unknown if he'll face charges at this time.
