GOLDSMITH -- The power is back on in Goldsmith, less than 24 hours after a pipeline explosion led to the evacuation of a gas plant.

Two West Texas Gas lines exploded outside of the D.C.P. Midstream gas plant along TX 158 near Goldsmith around 6 PM on December 5th.

The explosion also sparked a massive fire in the area.

West Texas Gas shut off four miles of the ruptured 16" lines, and firefighters let the residual gas burn off.

By the time the flames died down, one welding shed and some utility poles were destroyed

The D.C.P. Midstream plant was evacuated safely after the explosion.

Luckily, no one was injured in the incident.

The entire town of Goldsmith and parts of West Odessa lost power during the explosion, but ONCOR is reporting that power has been restored to all homes and businesses.

TX 158 was closed overnight in the area of the explosion due to debris in the roadway.

    TX 158 has since reopened.

The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
