BIG SPRING -- A Big Spring boy has been honored for saving his family from a deadly situation.

Traver Rivers Jordan was sleeping at his family's Big Spring home earlier this year when the smell of smoke woke him up.

Jordan, 10, got his father and sister to leave the house, which was on fire.

Because of Jordan's bravery, his family was OK.

Jordan was honored by the Big Spring Mayor and the Big Spring Fire Department on Tuesday night.

"I want to thank the mayor, I mean the fire department,  the fire marshal, everyone involved for bringing this to light for [Traver]," Traver's father Christopher Jordan told Big 2. "I can't thank him enough. He's my little hero."

Tuesday was also dedicated as Traver Rivers Jordan Day in Big Spring.
