LUBBOCK -- Kliff Kingsbury has been named the new head coach for the Texas Tech football team.

The 33-year-old served as Texas A&M's offensive coordinator this season, but he is mostly known as the record setting quarterback for Texas Tech from 1998-2002.

Kingsbury had a breakout season in College Station this year. The Aggies' offense led the Southeastern conference in total offense and was ranked third in the nation in total offense.

He replaces Tommy Tuberville, who bolted Lubbock last weekend to coach Cincinnati.
